Water Music

Artist’s Statement
Music can define my emotions. “Water Music” was my second plein air painting along a Lake Michigan shoreline on a sunny, blustery summer day. All through the day, my mind was enveloped in the music created by the wind tossing water onto the shore; the wind rustling leaves in the aspens providing sheltering shade; and the wind clacking together the nutlets of the great cottonwoods nearby. It is often my habit to step back from the intensity of a day and ask myself some summarizing questions. The question that particular day was “what did I hear?” A painting thus created often times becomes a releasing of energy, a relaxing process…a successful day deserving of the great orchestration of Handel’s Water Music!
