Barbara Willard Marden

Barb.jpg

Barbara Willard Marden was born into a family of artists – professional and otherwise – but didn’t think she could be one for the normal variety of reasons.  You know these:  I can’t make a living at it, I might not be good enough, the kind of art I make isn’t popular, etc.  Now that she has paid her lifetime of dues in corporate America, she thinks maybe she might be an artist, but still fights inner demons like having too little energy, needing to get the business of life done first before she can allow herself to make art, or feeling that time making art is worthwhile when it feels like the world is falling apart.  Nevertheless, she is occasionally able to make something, as is proven by the piece in this show.
