Jane Piirto is a native of Ishpeming, and spends her summers in her family home. She is retired from Ashland University in Ohio. She has published 20 books, both literary and scholarly. She has received two Individual Artist Fellowships — in poetry and fiction— from the Ohio Arts Council. Her poetry is widely published. Her poem, “Here,” is the title poem for the anthology of UP writers edited by Riekki (MSU Press, 2015).
