This project is my first attempt at abstract art! My art passion lies in portraiture. I began my art studies about 11 years ago after retiring as an R.N. I love vivid color and work to bring light into my paintings. I often paint with groups but most of the time I am more creative in a solitary situation.
I work in watercolor as well as in oil. My portraiture is best portrayed in oil. Either medium is a challenge and a new adventure with every new project.
Paintings Inspired by Poetry

I was drawn to the writings of Esther Margaret Ayers. Her poetic visions played vividly in my mind. As her words unfolded so did the plan for my paintings. “Dawn in the Camps”, brought me to a place that I so dearly love; those magical moments ushering in the birth of a new day. I could feel the night’s air coming alive with the freshness and promise of a glorious site. The chirping of the birds with the first light began a new symphony. The night was fleeting and new life was awakening.
I humbly submit my painting “Dawn in the Camps” with much thanks to Esther Margaret Ayers.
“A Blessing Upon the Chorus”, also written by Esther Margaret Ayers inspired another painting! I have always loved song and have been a member of chorus. Ms. Ayers words brought visions of voices coming from all walks of life, all shapes and sizes, all tones. Each voice must sing its song for the love of song. Joining together is so pleasing to our Creator; we are lifted, we are celebrated, we are chorus!!!
I humbly submit my painting “A Blessing Upon the Chorus” with much thanks to Esther Margaret Ayers.
