Ronnie Ferguson is an MFA candidate and an instructor in the English department at Northern Michigan University. A King Chavez Parks Fellow and President of the Graduate Writing Association, his creative work (often hybrid) spans the genres of poetry, music, film, theatre, and the visual arts. STREAKING IN TONGUES, the music project he shares with his son, has released several critically-acclaimed albums, most recently Slow Dancing with Bigfoot with two-time U.P. Poet Laureate Marty Achatz, in 2021. Their music videos have premiered on The Hollywood Digest, Daily Pop News, Spirit You All, and Deep Cutz. Through his work in film, Ronnie has garnered multiple awards for screenwriting and acting. His forthcoming documentary, 3-Day Novice, investigates the writing life through the lens of a poet participating in the International 3-Day Novel Contest. Beginning as an undergrad, he worked for a decade in the theatre, directing productions of such Pulitzer Prize-winning classics as A Streetcar Named Desire and The Young Man from Atlanta, as well as the award-winning multimedia play The Edie and Elmira Show, and several premiers. He is also the publisher of Harvard Square Press—an indie platform specializing in idiosyncratic literary fiction and poetry—as well as the founder and organizer of Electric Words & Music, a monthly series showcasing diverse and talented writers and musicians. A native of Flint, Michigan, Ronnie enjoys living in Marquette and exploring the endless wonder of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
